What a great recap. Flying into Catania is spectacular. You can see the beautiful Etna and the little gap between the mainland and sicily, such a small gap but one that begins to tell us that Sicily is different. I went to Lake Pergusa in Enna two years ago. That's where Hades took Persephone. The idea of being right in the place where an important myth took place. It's a myth that explains our seasons and pomegranates. And the Cathedral in Siracusa... my god those columns. I touched them and was connected to millennia of Sicilians, mostly slaves. It was dedicated to Athena. This is where I was born and want to return to.

Oh the House in the Theatre! I remember sitting on the theatre steps and saying to my husband, imagine living there. How marvellous!

Thanks for bringing up all of these delicious memories.

You've made me curious about Sicily. I have avoided going there because it didn't seem as interesting to me as the rest of Italy. Now I feel quite differently!
