I am so excited about the life you're finding and making. Also, as I've said before, you are a spectacular photographer. Don't overlook that talent. And...you look marvelous.
Hi Anne...thanks so much for responding. I too deal with tinnitus and hearing loss. I recently purchased 2 new hearing aids from Hear.com and they are great. My Humana plan paid for the most part thankfully. It's a crazy disease for sure. I had really horrific vertigo the first few years. My tinnitus gets louder when I'm stressed. I'll be selling my condo here in NC soon and hope to return to Virginia where I have many friends. I'm hoping this move isn't too stressful and I hope I'm doing the right thing by returning to Virginia. I've even considered New Hampshire, Vermont and Delaware. For some reason, my body is happier in cooler/colder weather. I lived in Florida for almost 20 years! Go figure! Enjoy your traveling! It sounds so very exciting and educational!
My body is also happier in cooler climates. I've loving the cool days here in Edinburgh after 23 years in New Orleans. In Virginia you will have actual seasons, which will be so nice. Good luck with your move! And I'm glad you have your hearing aids and the vertigo has calmed down. That is huge!
How exciting! I'm living vicariously through your adventures. I was curious as to how you are doing with your Meniere's? I was diagnosed in 2007, but didn't get the nasty symptoms until 2011 and this lasted through 2017. I haven't had any dizzy spells since then thankfully! It may be because I quit the job I hated...who knows.
Hi Kathy--I bet it does have to do with quitting your job. During my medical leave, my symptoms evaporated. I was symptom-free for over a year. Then when I started unraveling my life in New Orleans and preparing for my trip, they started again. Since then I've had them off and on, although the tinnitus (and attendant hearing loss) it seems is to here to stay, which is frustrating. Fortunately I've only had two vertigo attacks, but that was very unpleasant, to say the least. I tell myself it could be much worse. I seem to be doing much better the past two weeks, even though I have a cold and a bad cough. I think my body has been telling me to slow down. The two vertigo attacks came the day after a strenuous hike (one was after the Mt. Etna climb), and instead of taking the day to recupterate I was up and doing things again. Moving out and selling my home was stressful, and so is travel, so it's not a surprise that it's back. But I'm hoping that my slower pace will keep it at bay. I hope you continue to do well with it! It's a horrible disease when it's acting up.
Thanks, Anne! Stay healthy!
So proud of you! Can't wait to hear about the Boyds in Scotland. I also have a family line, McFarlands, who lived in the highlands around Arrochar.

Thank you, Miki! You are so sweet. I can't wait to see you over on this side!

Loved reading this update (and recalling our time in Sicily). Thanks for sharing!
